Abdominoplasty is the procedure that restores and tones the abdominal muscles by removing excess skin and fat around the navel area, correcting the image of a "sagging" abdomen.
Other times, it may have been preceded by a pregnancy or sudden weight loss. The most common cause, however, is simply the passage of time.
It aims to reduce the relaxation of the abdominal muscles which - by their nature - are not particularly elastic muscles and are therefore difficult to return to their ideal state after they have been relaxed.

The tummy tuck procedure can be performed with a combination of liposuction and surgical muscle resurfacing, but if there is not a large amount of excess fat in the area, the mini tummy tuck is an elegant alternative.

Abdominoplasty is recommended for men and women between the ages of 25 and 60. What can I expect from my first counselling session?

How long does recovery last?

Why not just have a tummy tuck?
Many patients have questions about the difference between Abdominoplasty and Liposuction. The answer is that abdominoplasty reconstructs the muscles underneath and removes excess skin while liposuction only removes excess fat. A liposuction, in other words, will not remove or reduce loose or sagging excess skin, nor will it affect the tone of your abdominal muscles.
How can someone reshape my abs?
The abdominal muscles, over time or pregnancy, loosen and acquire what we call the dimension of the rectus abdominis. Part of the procedure involves suturing the rectus abdominis socket and repositioning them to their natural anatomical position.
How long does the operation last?
On the day of surgery, the whole procedure will take between 2 and 3 hours. The surgery itself does not take long and the rest of the time will be spent administering anaesthesia and then preparing for your return home.
