How is the operation performed?
The operation is performed under general anesthesia. During the operation, the surgeon makes a small incision (incision) in the fold under the breast to create a pocket. This can be either under the breast tissue or in a dual plane in places under the pectoralis major and the massive gland. Inserts are placed in this space and the incisions are closed with stitches.
What will my body look like immediately after surgery?
Initially there will be swelling, but no bruising. In breast augmentation, the operation is performed in an atraumatic manner, i.e. without injury to blood vessels. The swelling will begin to subside within a week. The breast will look natural and the recovery period will be painless.
Is there a chance that the implants will interfere with future tests, such as mammography?
The implants are placed behind the breast tissue, without altering its appearance. However, you should choose doctors and diagnostic centres that have modern, state-of-the-art examination machines, so that there is no possibility of obtaining altered results.
You should also get used to self-examination of your breasts, as the presence of implants can be difficult at first.
How long is the recovery period?
'
Although this varies from patient to patient, most can return to work within 2- 3 days, depending on the nature of the work. There is practically no pain, as postoperatively you will receive mild analgesics and these for no more than 2 to 3 days.
After a month, the swelling will have subsided considerably. You can continue your normal activities, including moderate exercise. Avoid vigorous exercise and heavy lifting at this stage as the breast is still healing.
Will the operation leave scars?
No. There is usually no visible scar after healing is complete. The incisions follow the natural folds of the skin and once healed will fade, leaving a very inconspicuous incision line that becomes virtually invisible after healing.
How long does the operation last?
The surgical procedure takes about an hour and a half to complete.
Is there a chance that breast augmentation can cause breast cancer?
This is a very common question asked by those concerned. However, you should be aware that there is no link between breast augmentation and breast cancer. However, you should be extra careful with the radiology centres you choose for your examinations so that there is no possibility of the implants affecting the mammogram image.
Can I breastfeed normally with breast augmentation?
After breast augmentation you can continue breastfeeding as normal and the quality of breast milk is not affected.
